Watch some of Australia's greatest sporting events at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne Park and AAMI Park in the sports precinct, just a 15-minute walk from the city centre. Cheer on tennis, cricket, netball, soccer and rugby matches, or Australian Rules Football (AFL), cycling and basketball games.
Join local fans at the MCG for a game of AFL between March and September; the season closes with the spectacular AFL Grand Final. Or spend summer in the stands and shout 'howzat' as international cricketers play in the legendary Boxing Day Test.
Stop by the National Sports Museum at the MCG to peruse an amazing collection of sporting memorabilia. Catch the Australian Open at Melbourne Park each January and see the world's greatest tennis stars in action on Rod Laver and Margaret Court arenas.
Powerhouse pop performances, basketball, cycling and family events also bring crowds to Rod Laver, Melbourne and Margaret Court arenas. At AAMI Park you can see National Rugby League (NRL) team Melbourne Storm, Rugby Union team the Melbourne Rebels, and the city's A League soccer teams – Melbourne Victory and Melbourne Heart.
