Overview
Victoria is crisscrossed with dozens of Pedal to Produce cycling routes, and some of the very best are right here in the High Country. Ride alongside mountain streams, through lush valleys, autumn leaves and historic towns to experience fresh local honey, gourmet cheeses, a bevy of orchards, wineries and craft breweries.
And don't let the name fool you: despite being known as the High Country, most of these cycling routes don't require Tour de France-level fitness. Anyone can join in the fun.
Start your journey in Beechworth, visiting local providores and stocking up on homemade jams, then finish the day with a pitstop at the famous Bridge Road Brewery. If you're looking for vineyards, take the Wahgunyah Ride along the Murray River: it's a gentle 9km track that winds through olive groves and past cellar doors, all the way to the charming town of Wahgunyah.
Starting in Bright? Grab the family and head along Morse's Creek. There's a gentle loop trail that snakes its way to the old gold rush village of Wandiligong. Stop in at Nightingale Bros orchards for a homemade apple cider, then head up the lane to Wandiful Produce for some fresh chestnuts and a well-deserved pizza.
Whether you're after wineries or breweries, cellar doors or providores, there's something for everyone in Victoria's High Country. Just bring a hearty appetite.
